Randell Johnson Obituary

Randell "Randy" Berton Johnson, born on October 30, 1958, to Dorothy Lou and the late, Carroll Berton Johnson in Chula Vista, CA. He went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 24, 2024, after a sudden decline in health. He grew up in many places as his father was enlisted with the Navy. The family settled in Beeville, TX where Randy graduated from AC Jones High School in 1977.

After graduation, he worked as a Uranium miner. He later went on to work as a Manager of Security at the Bee County Hospital and as a Reserve Police Officer for Bee County. Randy later moved to Bishop, TX , where he worked as a Contractual Airplane Maintenance Technician at NAS Kingsville until September 2006.

In 1997, Randy welcomed his long-anticipated birth of his only child, Chelsi Johnson. He was overjoyed with the arrival of his granddaughter, Brookleynn Johnson -Aguilera, in 2017. Randy was very proud to be a father and grandfather. He enjoyed the time he shared with them.

Randy is survived by his daughter, Chelsi Johnson, and granddaughter, Brookelynn, mother, Dorothy Johnson, sister, Sandie Johnson Greene (Billy), nieces Tiffany Gilroy (Bruce), Nichole Moneymaker, Kristin Greene, great niece and nephews, Mackenzie Moneymaker, Logan and Landon Zernhelt, and a host of extended family members and dear friends.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, Carroll Berton Johnson.

He was deeply cared for by his mother, Dorothy, who spent every day by his side until his passing. Randy moved to Maryland in 2023 where he spent his final days making the nurses and staff at Chesapeake Shores Nursing Home laugh.

To know Randy was to love Randy. He enjoyed spending time with family, putting together puzzles, listening to music, and his Dallas Cowboys. Randy loved to play practical jokes on those around him as he loved nothing more than to laugh. His contagious laughter filled the room and would brighten anyone's day. Randy was the most loyal person one could meet and demonstrated this with his commitment and dedication to his family.

Services will be held at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 11 am with Mr. Ron Lively officiating.
