Estella Martinez Obituary

BEEVILLE – Estella Jimenez “Momo” Martinez, 91, passed away on February 20, 2024. She was born on May 1, 1932, in Beeville, Texas to the late Miguel Jimenez and Maria Ibarra. She was affiliated with the family owned Gerardo's and Santiago's Restaurants in Beeville, Mathis and Corpus Christi, Texas.

     She was preceded in death by her husband, Benito G. Martinez; three sons, Manuel Matinez, Rueben Jimenez and Benito Martinez, Jr; daughter, Rosalinda M. Valdez; two sisters, Maria R. Davis, and Lela Saenz; one brother, Baldemar Saldiva; son-in-law, James McCartney; brothers-in-law, Valentin Campos and Fred Davis and a sister-in-law, Senaida Saldivar.

     She is survived by one daughter, Juanita McCartney of San Antonio; four sons, Judge Santiago (Jimmy) Martinez and wife Dora of Beeville, Joe Henry Martinez and wife Ortencia of San Antonio, Hector J. Martinez and wife Rhonda of Houston and Gerardo R. (Jerry) Martinez and wife Velma of Beeville; one sister, Margarita Campos of Beeville; two brothers, Pete Saldivar of Beeville and Inez (Cecilia) Saldivar of Tucson, Arizona; one sister-in-law, Alicia Saldiva of San Antonio. She is also survived by her personal caregiver, Marie Lydia Bejarano, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

     A visitation will be held from 3-8 pm on Friday, Feb. 23, at Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel. A prayer service will be held at 7 pm. Funeral services will be held at Oak Park Memorial Chapel at 10 am on Saturday, February 24, 2024, with her son, Pastor Joe H. Martinez, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery #2.

     Serving as pallbearers are Samuel Ramirez, Jimbo Martinez, Joe Henry Martinez Jr, Andrew Martinez, Kolt Rakowitz and Nathan Rakowitz.

     Honorary pallbearers are the Serna Family/Taqueria Vallarta, Dr. Francisco J. Calica, Hospice Doctors, Julie Rivas/New Century Hospice, all restaurant owners, staff, and customers.
